Prices unlock carbon credit safes

Companies which have long been sitting on carbon credits earned from clean development mechanism (CDM) projects under the United Nations FrameworkConvention on Climate Change, are now open to selling their credits in the backdrop of booming spot prices.

The rush to sell carbon credits comes at a time when CER (certified emission reduction) prices in the spot market have touched E20.25 giving heartburn to those who sold their CERS in the pre-boom period during the first 3-4 months of the year, when prices were ranging between E13-16
